Fairphone no longer being recognised as removable storage device

Dear all,

I encounter the problem that my Fairphone FP1U is no longer recognised as a removable storage device on my Ubuntu Linux 15.10 desktop.

I ensured that USB debugging is enabled under Developer options.

Could someone advise me please how to proceed with this problem?

Thankfully,

~Robert

USB Debugging should not make any difference (only if you want to use adb).

Is there a notification in the status bar when you connect to your computer? If yes, click it and it will give you several connection options (only charging/MTP/PTP/USB mass storage. You need to choose MTP.)

Sometimes there is no notification at all but still try swiping down the status bar and have a look.

Dear all,

Thank you for all your support!

It turned out that it was not a problem of my phone, nor of my Ubuntu Linux but the cable.

I used a split cable which could charge my phone but did not allow it to be recognised as a removable storage. I have no clue as to why. A conventional cable does work perfectly.

Thankfully,

~Robert
