Hi everyone,
I am using the standard Fairphone camera app, and while I generally like the app layout and performance, I am really unhappy with the digital zoom.
When zooming in, the camera’s post-processing tends to blur and oversmooth everything completely. Instead of recovering details, the pictures lose all sharpness and look washed out. Other manufacturers (like Google, Samsung, or Nothing) use smart AI upscaling / super-resolution algorithms to keep or even recreate details when zooming.
I tried using GCam ports, but they don’t work reliably and often produce unnatural results. I really want to keep using the stock Fairphone app.
Is Fairphone planning to upgrade the camera software and improve the zoom algorithms in future system updates? Has anyone found a good workaround within the stock app settings to avoid this heavy blur?
Thanks for your support!
