I’m planning to get a Fairphone 6 running /e/OS and wanted to check compatibility for two apps before switching:
Miles & More Credit Card App (Lufthansa)
DATEV SmartLogin
Neither shows up in the compatible apps lists I could find. Has anyone tested these on /e/OS (App Lounge, Aurora Store, or sideloaded APK)? Specifically curious whether push notifications and 2FA/authentication work reliably.
Both Apps are requiring Google background services on the phone according to Aurora Store (relying on Plexus for this info).
/e/OS provides a compatibility layer for this which does a pretty good job overall, but please be aware that even if anybody could attest that everything you want to have works right now, nobody can guarantee that it stays this way in case of such Apps.
As is in the technical nature of a degoogled Android Custom ROM like /e/OS, compatibility with Google-dependent Apps can be there at one point in time and not be there at another point in time (until a fix comes, if possible).
So, the question you should ask yourself is: Can I manage without these Apps if/when they break on /e/OS for an uncertain amount of time?
If you can’t, /e/OS would be the wrong choice of OS for these use cases.
