I’m thinking about buying the FP6 but the AoD is very important to me. Is there any guarantee that FP are not going to pull the rug on it with the FP6 like they did to FP5 owners with a system update? Also, I hear/read differing opinions about the FP6’s AoD from it’s ‘too bright’ to ‘too dim’ and much between. Presumably it really is an ‘always’ always on display (unlike that lie told by Honor in their phone’s settings!)?
No. I dont think that it happens however, no one not even FP will ever be able to guarantee that.
Reg the brightness: as some complained it was to dark in brigh light, it was changed and now some complain its to bright in dark.
You can order and return within 14 days I guess, so the only way to see if you are happy with it, is to use it.
Many thanks for your reply. Maybe I will. I don’t like returning things, especially overseas.
Yes returning is not the best solution, however you can e.g. order within the UK https://www.clove.co.uk/products/fairphone-gen-6
Many thanks for your time.
I’d say after the Android 16 update, the AoD seems to be at a good brightness level. It’s not too dim or too bright, but also it’s not very visible in direct sunlight. In my opinion what’s missing I’d say is the ability to customize what gets displayed, so you’re stuck with battery percentage, clock, and basic icons for notification.
Thanks very much. It would be good if there could be a slider for AoD brightness independent of the phone’s brightness controls, but stuck with the FP5 with none at all, I’d take anything!
