Fairphone 5 totaly new / Upgrade download error FP5.UT27.B.059 and no Android 14 Upgrade working via Fastboot or Sideload

Hello i just got my new FP 5 SkyBlue and I have the u27 Update error that it can’t install the u27 Update via the System-Update showing a download error.
I’m currently not using a SIM ( the Plan is to migrate to a eSIM if all is running ).

I got my FP5 Rootet and Unlocked and could install the FP5-TT4H-factory.zip after the newest u27 Factory always keeps failing due to reasons i don’t know. ( the Poste about that didn’t work ) … :frowning:

I 've installed Lineage OS in the past on a Nexus 7 and a Galaxy Tab S2 with way less problems so im not a totally newbie.

The Image has no error and the Falsh.Bat is closing shortly after Confirming “Yes”
I made a Clip from it on my Phone and the last Output is “One Fairphone 5 in Fastboot mode found …” then the Window is closing.
Same Problem with the FP5-UT20-factory.zip

Android SDK is installed and drivers are installed on the System.

Any advice or hint why the hell the Android 14 Factorys are not working the same way ?

The Installation of File name: FP5-TT4H-factory.zip / Version: FP5.TT4H.A.162 was working but the Android 14 wont install the same supposed way.

Kind regards
Michael

I made it somehow to start U20 Upgrade which was abortet by this.

I bootet with Power up tried it with ADB and SD then “Fastboot” and then this error message in the end…

ERROR: Could not flash the super partition on device ********.

ERROR: Please unplug the phone, take the battery out, boot the device into
ERROR: fastboot mode, and start this script again.
ERROR: (To get to fastboot mode, press Volume-Down and plug in the USB-C)
ERROR: (cable until the fastboot menu appears.)
ERROR: Aborting now (press Enter to terminate).

Then bootet straight into Fastboot following this message and i don’t know why u27 is installing.

Is there a specific very small Timeframe you need to catch ?

Install was Successfully now … i don’t understand why but happy now

What is U20 and U27? Those are not build numbers from FPOS? So to understand in general: you tried to update your rooted FP? So why did you flash and did not OTA update?

Or is this what happened

I’m sorry for the Miss-understanding those two were ment.

Fairphone OS (Android 14)

File name: FP5-UT27-factory.zip
Version: FP5.UT27.B.059

[Previous] Fairphone OS (Android 14)

File name: FP5-UT20-factory.zip
Version: FP5.UT20.B.041

Both didn’t work the last couple days until now.

OTA did not work because there was always a Download error even when disabling Autom. System Updates under Developer Options and put it back on… this Method only worked for the current Security Patch.

Is this known yet why the Downloaderror appearing ?

The Link you Provided was the Problem i could solve myself afterwards. Had do Disable and Enable Auto. Updates to get the Phone to be able to restart.

So your phone is rooted? I struggle a bit to understand your issue and it might be related to being rooted? So how did you OTA update with root?

So one I linked to?

Yes it is and was also mentioned in the topic I linked.

Edit: btw both versions you tried to install are not the most recent.

I unpacked the Phone a few days Ago and saw there is a Android Update ready but there was that Download Error and the Upgrade didn’t work.
At that Time the Phone wasn’t rooted or unlocked.

I tried the Solution i had to run on the current Sec.-Patch 5 Update which was provided for Download and Install after Installing Manual Method.

So i wanted my Phone to be Up2Date before Using it and installing my Apps and Stuff so i was looking for a Solution and the only way that time was Rooting it to get it installed via Fastboot or Sideload.

TBH: the Sideload Method seems not to be documented well or to be Update … or im just to Stupid for it.
“On the Command Prompt or terminal window, run ./sideload_update.command
Couldnt find that Find that File in the whole Factory Image.

Version : FP5.UT27.B.059 was the latest on the Support-Site for a Manual Install.

You dont need to root to flash a system using fastboot. So did you really root using magisk or any other method?

ADB sideload indeed isnt offered for the FP5 for FPOS

No i didn’t root then, don’t know even how and it’s not my favourite Cup of Tea of Topics in IT.
I sticked to the Official Documentations.

Ahh thats why the documentation is incomplete… Thanks for clarifying.
