A new feature is beeped out in the video, but the “new version” (of the FP5) is scheduled for the “beginning of September”.

EDIT: Just noticed that Miquel also said “… that more people can access to that phone”

My pure speculation: My first thought about what is beeped out was that it’s quite a short beep – perhaps it was “cheaper” or “lower price”?

sounds like another version of the FP5. since they mention it being accessible to more people, maybe some cheaper, Lite variant?

It would be great to have a cheaper version for a lot people but I secretly hope that it’s a camera upgrade :face_with_peeking_eye:

I hope no hardware upgrade, only producing waste for no reason at all, completely against the Fairphone principles.
But maybe Fairphone is starting to sell the phones in Asia or America.

I would also rather think of expansion to new countries…

And hardware upgrade of the camera will not help with better pictures and I dont think they will do this again

Very interesting interpretation of the “more people can access” bit :+1: I didn’t think of that at all initially.

Of course, going America has always been the big risk, but now that you mention it, the fact that Murena still isn’t offering the FP5 in the USA makes me think again … :thinking:

Camera is really good, but i “vote” for better (and also as part for my FP5) top speaker, with same characteristics as bottom… Or even better both speaker new with better (and same) sound quality ;⁠-⁠)

They have just announced a photo contest. Not sure if that would make sense, just before announcing a camera upgrade. The clip does suggest something in lines of increase in accessibility, which does not point to the upgrade

Completely agree with you but I didn’t buy the Fairphone 5 yet so that’s a very selfish wish on my part to get the best camera possible :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

So right now pepole guess its either going to be

A) Fairphone 5 mini/lite variant that is cheaper

or

B) Fairphones start to sell phones outside the EU

Already not every country Fairphone sells in is in the EU, but we know what you mean.

I’d just very strongly assume it will have the same form factor, so not “mini” in that respect.
