After tinkering with LineageOS on my Fairphone 5 I couldn’t get it back to ‘stock’ and have had to send it off from the UK here to France to get fixed in FP’s workshop! Beware! This was my plea… I was reverting my Fairphone 5 to standard stock software using the official factory image script. The script failed on the abl_a partition with a Critical Partition error. The phone now boots the stock OS, but the OEM Unlocking toggle is greyed out on ‘unlocked’ and get_unlock_ability is stuck at 0. I need the device restored to a factory-locked state for my banking applications.
Can you use fastboot to lock the boot loader?
Here’s a link to the e/OS instructions - scroll down to “Locking the Bootloader”
I’ve installed e/OS a few times ( I like to tinker ) and it works fine with my banking apps.
When you get_unlock_ability is stuck at 0, you don’t want to lock your bootloader because you may brick your phone.
Ooooh - I should have come here first instead of being led by the hand by Gemini checking out all the options and paths. I spent a full day on this - first with Gemini, then consulting a much more experienced than me friend who does this stuff all the time - and it was concluded that this was the only option. I shall come here if I ever do it again! Thanks.
I think that’s what I was reading so played it safe and sent it to France, as per Fairphone support advice.
