Sometimes when I connect my Fairbuds to my laptop I only have the choice of CVSD or MSBC codecs - aka. headset mode, which sounds horrible for video/music/media. While I can sometimes turn them off to fix the issue, they sometimes get stuck and are unable to turn off at all - even using the “5s joystick press” factory reset - forcing me to completely remove the battery.
On “sometimes” being unable to turn off, a bit of research tells me it may be that this locked state only happens when the Fairbuds are actively held in headset mode - so perhaps disconnecting the Fairbuds from my laptop would fix the issue (I will try next time this happens). As far as past occurrences go, it seems plausible that the lockout didn’t happen when the Fairbuds were additionally connected to my phone, which is not always the case.
TLDR:
- Sometimes the headphones get stuck in headset mode (at least on Linux): no identified trigger as of yet
- Sometimes cannot turn off at all even with factory reset: possibly a separate issue, possibly the Fairbuds being “held” in headset mode by the connected device (will log and verify that going forwards)
I intend to raise a support ticket as this issue has been annoying me to no end, but I wanted to bring this up with the community to see if this is a widespread issue and help give credibility to a potential ticket.
