e/OS easy installer can't detect my Fairphone 5

Hi!

I’m trying to install e/OS on my Fairphone 5 using the Easy Installer. I first tried the new Webinstaller but in the end got a message that my Fairphone 5 is not supported.

I’ve followed all the instructions but am now stuck on the device detection page, the installer says “Looking for your device”, but it can’t seem to find it. I read the provided link about ensuring I have the Windows drivers for my phone, but couldn’t make much sense of it and there wasn’t any specific instructions there for Fairphone 5. Has anyone else experienced this problem and could provide some help?

Regards,
Dan

I dont think the FP5 is approved for the easy installer. Did you check the e/OS forum?

Yes, the FP5 is not listed as supported by the easy installer and the official doc is the manual install instructions at: Install /e/OS on a Fairphone FP5 - “FP5”

It used to be supported and I even did flash a couple of FP5s using the easy installer. It wasn’t a smooth process but it worked and there were never any problems with those FP5s. I’m not sure why they delisted it again. This was more than half a year ago. So theoretically you could just download that older version of the installer and with a little luck on your side succeed flashing your FP5 with it. I do not recommend it though. If you follow the manual guide closely and don’t mind rebooting your FP5 a couple of times, it’s doable.

I came here to mention this. See https://e.foundation/leaving-apple-easy-installer-is-now-available-for-fairphone-5/ also.

More info but not clear why

There was/is an issue [WIP] FP5 stuck during installation (!242) · Merge requests · e / devices / Easy Installer · GitLab and support was removed in Easy Installer v0.20.1

It caused severe issues.

Yeah apperently so but of what kind? Like I said, it all went pretty well for me. That’s why I’m wondering. Do you have more info on that?
