Does FPs support call screening like Pixel devices?

,

A Google-AI powered service for degoogled phones? Doesn‘t make much sense, doesn’t it?
And do you really want Google to listen to all your phone calls, even without telling the people calling you?

You mean e/OS? Its Murena and will never happen as its completely against what they stand for.

The ‘screening’ function is only for unknown callers, and only for ‘say your name and why you are calling’; not the full call nor subsequent calls once ‘accepted’. Some owners may be happy to opt into google cloud for that purpose only.

HOWEVER in any case you don’t “need” that.
For example, I understand OpenWhispr can do dictation fine, so you could do something dictation/voice-recognition-based locally.

In any case, you don’t need that anyhow. For example, in UK, cordless phonesets BT-8610 and BT-Advanced/090632/090631 do something very usefully, locally, in audio ONLY. We do not need to assume AI-transcription etc.
It speaks to them [default “calls to this number are being screened by BT call guardian”], then reads out the “announced call” you have a call from [plays audio], to accept press 1, etc etc…
Even the Audio only version would be perfectly fine. I did not, by any means say “we have to have the google cloud dependent version of call screening”.

Thinking about it; UK VoIP phone provider “phonely” found “call screening” was their most requested feature!. I think they also do an audio version of ‘do you want to accept call from’ etc…
FairPhone would definitely be missing a trick not to implement this one way or another.

OK linked Fairphone Support to this and asked.
Please see later comment; it is possible to do call-screening entirely in audio or with offline transcription.
