Dell WD19S detected as "dirt in the connector"

I’m trying to get an external display running with a WD19S (sadly, not the WD19TBS, as these are no longer sold).

The docking station works fine in DP alt-mode for two computers, but the FP5 reports “dirt in the USB connector” (kind of rude :] ) and refuses to use it. Any idea what may be causing this?

I guess you don’t have this issue when charging the phone or connecting it directly to a PC for file transfer?

Not a solution to your problem but I have a “dirt in the connector” issue with my HDMI over USB-C hub in certain conditions, see :

Got this notification using an USB-C to HDMI adapter then unplugging it after use, TV still on, and then plugging a charger fires the “debris” notification. Reboot solves this. After some testing, this notification doesn’t come if I shut down the TV first (OLED TV, need to wait the antiburning feature to finish, which can take from 30s to 2mn after turning it off), waiting for the phone to kill the external display connection notification in top bar, then unplug the adapter. Also, I have to plug the hub with a power supply for it to work properly.

I guess HDMI hub are not very well standardized, and if you can test another one (I.e. Lenovo or Microsoft one) to see if it works properly, then you could know that it doesn’t come from your phone.

PS : my hub is from noname brand “mobility lab” , bought in a Carrefour supermarket.
