Current version of /e/os usable?

Greetings,

I just received my FP6 and want to install /e/os. My phone has Android 15 with the 5th of Oct. 2025 security update. Due to the rollback protection I am afraid to brick my device because the official builds for /e/os that I could find have a security update of the 1st of Oct. 2025. I am new to this and unsure what build to install if any. I really want to degoogle.

For all recent developments concerning /e/OS, I strongly recommend to follow the weekly updates of /e/ community moderator Manoj:

Week 48, 2025: Development and Testing Updates

As you can see there, the current estimate for the next update of /e/OS is early December. I would wait for that one and then check its security patch level. I would usually expect it to be more recent than 5 October.

If you plan to relock the bootloader after the installlation

(not mandatoty, only available with Official version, why relocking ?)
Most important thing to take care about is the FairphoneOS “android Security Patch Level” already installed on your device before you start the install process.

It must be OLDER than the “android Security Patch Level” included in the /e/ build you want to install, otherwise you risk to change your device into Brick.
