Curiosities during charging

I have a small problem with the FP6 when charging. And only in the first 2 minutes or so. The following happens: I have set it to eco mode, so the charging current should not rise above 1 ampere, but it rises to about 3 A (detected with the Battery One app) then drops again to about -300mA, so it discharges. Then rises sharply again to 2-3 A. The power saving mode turns on and off all the time. And after 2 minutes the spook is over and the phone continues to charge normally. What’s going on? I can deliver a screen recorder film later.

What you are seeing may be normal. 3A is not so very much (15W). Where did you read of a 1A limit?

There have been a number of reports related to charging.

In some cases Eco charging doesn’t work at all and in worst case the phone dies.

Does your problem resemble any of those, for e.g. this?

If you have any doubt I recommend using a 1 or 2 A charger for the moment.

EDIT - First link should now work. Thanks for letting me know :wink:

With the FP 5 and also with the FP 6 (After the 2 minutes) it is the case that the charging current is limited to 1 A in eco mode. Unfortunately your link doesn’t work, it would be interesting to see these problems loading.

Both links work for me. The first should bring up a list of search results. The second points to a specific topic.

Ok, now the first link works, when i take the right buttun of the mouse.

So should you use a charger that has less power to minimize the risk of the phone dying?

For me the first 1 does not work…

That’s what some are doing.
I only have chargers <= 2A so I’m OK!

Of course that’s a contingency work-around. Eco charging should always work properly.

Now, I’ve ordered the Fairphone charger. I Hope, it will be better.

Now, with the Fairphonecharger (with PPS), the FP 6 is charging very well. I researched with Chatgpt. This is because the Fairphone 6 expects PPS in the charger, and if the charger can’t do that, there will be a sudden charging current.
