After updating to 1.8.5 (manual update Monday 18 May, uneventful, no problems reinstalling GoogleApps) I experience the following:
When turning on mobile data after a reboot/restart (I use the scheduled on/off function so my FP starts afresh every morning), I get a "Checking for updates" message for 15 seconds or so.
I turn off mobile data and turn it back on: new "Checking for updates" message,
And again, and again...
Nothing seems to be downloaded (nothing added to the /sdcard/updater folder
I then turn on WLAN and get a very short "Checking for updates" message. File updater.zip added to the /sdcard/updater folder.
I turn WLAN off, turn mobile data on. No message.
What I suspect: Turning mobile data on activates the FP updater (although it ought not, since you cannot download updates via mobile data). But nothing is downloaded, which is why it happens again. After a WLAN connection, the process succeeds and the updater knows that a search has been performed so it won't happen again as long as the FP is kept alive.
I tried blacklisting the FP Updater in AFWall+ (mobile data only), but no difference.
Anyone else encountering the same? Any suggestions how to solve this?
