I’ve recently switched my Fairphone 6 from e/OS to Fairphone Android 16, and it won’t let me enrol fingerprints. I know the sensor is working because it lets me add all the parts of the fingerprint right until the last little stage and then it says: “Can’t complete Fingerprint setup”. This worked fine in e/OS. I have done a factory reset and gone through all the troubleshooting, but it just won’t work. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks
OK, I’ve spent an evening on this, which I’m not happy about, but I think I might have found the answer. Unfortunately it’s not a fix. When the phone boots (after a factory reset) with an unlocked bootloader I can enrol my fingerprints. When the bootloader is locked I can’t. I’ve only done this once, and I have no idea if I can replicate it (it takes ages), but if this is correct it’s a pretty serious bug, right?
Worked fine for me, but I enrolled my fingerprint before updating to Android16. Could that be relevant?
No. Just checked and could add another fingerprint. Works as intended.
I’ve gone back to e/OS for now and trying to be more Zen with its limitations (most of which i realise are actually features, not bugs), but I’ll try again after some travelling with an older version of Android and then work my way up. Thanks for the reply.
