Cannot send and receive MMS unless recipient is set up for RCS

Hi
I cannot send and receive MMS unless recipient is set up for RCS. I have spoken to my telecommunications company several times and have received help setting up the APN, it works now (only) when the one I send or receive from is set up for RCS. Its a new Fairphone, I had no problems with my old android phone (it was not a Fairphone.
Can anyone help??

in Germany we dont have a MMS system without RCS. The Standard MMS is not longer available. Perhaps it is the same in your country.

And the follow up question, are using Google messages?

I can only send mmms when my SIM card has primary data preference even when on WiFi I believe, that’s why I asked.

I notice that RCS settings are seemingly only managed through the Google account.

You might want to turn off RCS if you’re encountering problems.

There is also a setting ‘Automatically resend as a text’ which I presume is designed to provide a solution for the problem you describe.
