Hi, the FP5 running /e/ OS had been working well with my (french provider FREE) SIM card for a few months, but recently I cannot receive calls any more! There no is display saying “call from…”, it is not ringing, and the call goes directly to the provider’s answering machine. I thought it was a network problem and told my provider Free. They ran a few tests and suggested a network reset on android (e OS 2.9 -Android 14), which I did, no result.
(it has to be said that all other connections, mobile network, mobile internet still work with the same SIM!)
There is no “do not disturb” activated and the APN settings seem as suggested by the provider.
BUT: When I put my SIM into another phone, it does ring and I can take the call !! And the FP5 with another SIM card doesn’t ring either, so it does seems phone-related! Have any of you come across a similar problem? Could it be hardware or software-related? Thanks for any ideas !
Hi and welcome to the forum
I am also with Free, but my FP5 is running the Fairphone OS and not /e/OS.
I have been encountering a similar problem but only when roaming in the UK.
I haven’t yet tried using the SIM in a different phone, but will do so next time I travel.
No problems when in France.
I had supposed that the problem was associated either with roaming or with local equipment of masts in the UK, so your contribution is interesting.
Have you contacted Fairphone support? It might be interesting to let them know about these two cases in conjunction.
At the moment we have two things in common : FP5 and the operator Free.
Same or different provider?
Hi, a helpful user on the e OS forum suggested to check if VoLTE / 4G calling is enabled. Disabling it solved the problem, the phone is ringing now. it has to be said I’m currently roaming, in Belgium, so on a different carrier network… and yes the other SIM card was by the same provider.
Check your Phone Dialer App settings, and Turn off the
“Block calls from Unknown numbers”
I had the problem a long time ago, and it bugged me too, but once I got that solved, calls started coming in.
Let me know if this helps.
Thanks 2bfrank, I’ll try that!
I don’t currently block calls from unknown numbers, though the temptation is great. I do however use the Android “spam” blocking feature, but that’s on the basis of individual numbers.
