I use my FP5 with /e/OS and I have an issue with the preinstalled camera app. When I switch from video mode to photo mode I get a screen as the screenshot: There are these square corners and at the bottom some buttons are missing.
Is this a known issue of the camera app or is there something wrong with my settings?
It looks like opencamers for me and probably it swirches to a qr code scanning mode as that looks like this.
Can you test it out with like trying to scan a dummy qr code on your PC to see if it switches to that mode?
Yes e/OS stock cam app is Opencamera (Fork?)
Yes, it looks like a qr code scanning mode. I’ve tried to scan a code, but it can’t. And when I turn the camera 90 degrees the screen looks like this screenshot.
I have to stop and restart the camera app to get a normal screen in photo mode. But when I just switch to video mode and turn back to photo mode I get the strange screen.
Did you check the e/OS Forum if this is a known bug?
Did you try clearing the apps data? (Long-tap app > Info > Storage > clear data)
Thanks for your hint. I have just now deleted the data this way, but nothing changed but the settings.
I didn’t have this issue from the start, only when I first used (but not only selected) the video mode. I don’t know, what’s happened, since also deleting the app data doesn’t help.
I think, I should check/ask the /e/OS forum. So thank you also, yvmuell.
Did you try out the “fairphone” camera app? It’s IMHO anyway much better.
You can activate it in settings->apps->general section.
I hadn’t even noticed this point in the settings. I have now activated the Fairphone camera app. It makes a good impression at first, but is completely different. I’ll have to take a closer look at it.
Thanks for the tip!
