CalyxOS releases on hold for 4 to 6 months

I was pretty much in your position and waited until recently to remove CalyxOS. (Master procrastinator here…)

I went for IodéOS and can say that the manual install worked very nicely for me (even with the locked bootloader).

I can also highly recommend the Backup function (Seedvault). Many (although not all) Apps and files were automatically carried over to the new phone.

EDIT: Namely Messaging- (Signal, Threema, Element…), Banking-Apps and (surprisingly) Antennapod did not migrate. So make sure to manually backup these.

The functionality of Iodé is also very similar to Calyx.

Thank you! I also need to stop procrastinating!

I had the same experience with the iodeOS installer, it was pretty straight forward, and by following the steps it went smoothly. I just got a FP3+ from a friend and decided to try an alternative OS, and see how is life without all the bloatware ^^

I like it so far

CalyxOS is almost back, test builds are available:

I’m running it on my FP4 since three weeks now and beside the not working wideangle-lens, everything looks good.

CalyxOS is finally back:

The new release also fixed the issue with the not working wideangle-lens.

A user on Mastodon reports (in :germany: German) issues with CalyxOS 7.2.2.0 installation on the FAIRPHONE :five:, referring to this: https://calyxos.org/install/antirollback-update-pending/ Unfortunately, I cannot find any release date for that news item, so I do not know if this is a recent development or old news.

This is just standard for Calyx, they always did this when FPOS SPL is newer than current Calyx SPL.

I will close the topic here as Calyx is no longer on hold in general
