Hello friends. I just bought my first Fairphone 5 so I can install ubuntu touch. It’s an international FP5 version with no regional code at the end of the model number. I’m directly copying my IMEI and Serial into the website, but it’s telling me that they aren’t valid or that I have typo. I know I don’t have a typo as I copied them directly, and retyped them and tried the second IMEI did everything but it’s just not in the database or something.
Please if I could get an update
Hello @Dharam and welcome to the community
I am afraid I am not able to help and not sure any fellow users can.
I would suggest double checking all your IMEI numbers.
If all of the numbers you can find are the same and the do not work, the next step would be to contact the seller - have you purchased your device directly from the Fairphone? You may then reach them online via chat (I guess next Monday might be the nearest availability) or submit a ticket (if when submitting the system still does not accept your IMEI choose the option - something else)
Appreciate you getting back to me. I have a ticket open. I think my imei just isn’t added to the bootloader unlock database and needs to be. The Fairphone 5 isn’t for sale in my country and the 6 doesn’t run Ubuntu touch so I had to buy a used 5 from over seas.
How many digits are in your serial number? One user said on a related topic the serial on their box had one more digit digit than the one that showed on the phone, and I don’t have a box to check that.
Hi,
My IMEI has 15 digits. The quick online check suggested that it’s a standard length.
I can check my box for you tomorrow.
How many digits in the serial number not the imei?
8 digits. It’s mentioned in the page linked above and I’ve just checked in my case and can confirm it.
Thank you. Yeah my IMEI and Serial are definitely correct just not working on the unlock page. I’ve had a ticket open since before I posted here. I guess all I can do is wait.
