I’m experiencing issues with my fp6 regarding bluetooth. When I put on my JBL headphones and go on Spotify or other apps to listen to music, it sometimes turn up the volume by itself and if I don’t turn it down it will turn it all the way up. Also, it skips songs by itself after 5-10 seconds, sometimes after 2 secs. It also happens when I’m taking a call through my headphones, but that’s less frequent. Does anyone else experience this? I also had this problem with my fp4 and never experienced it on my old iPhone
Probably not very helpful, but for the record: I occasionally use JBL T450BT headphones and mostly Galaxy Buds FE with Spotify and I’ve never experienced any issues like the ones you describe. (My operating system is /e/OS/.) The fact that the issues involve both increasing the volume and skipping to the next song could point to a hardware problem, such as a stuck volume‑up button. Android includes a feature that allows skipping a track by pressing the volume‑up button while the screen is off — so both symptoms could be caused by the button.
As you have these issues with different phones, could it be an issue with your headphones? Maybe the touch controls register ghost touches?
I only have the issues on my fairphone 4 and Fairphone 6. Never experienced this on iphones or other phones. So I’m afraid it’s a Fairphone issue
I have the same JBL headphones as you. Glad to know it works for you. My operating system is Android not e/OS. Can I change that and how? And how can I check if my volume bottom is stuck? Cause when I use the phone without headphones there is no problem with the volume up bottom
As @mgkoeln rightly pointed out, it’s most likely a headphone issue. I had overlooked the fact that it happens with two different phones.
Given that you’re using JBL T450BT headphones and considering the nature of the problem, this explanation becomes even more plausible: the + button on the headphones is responsible for increasing the volume and skipping tracks – exactly the actions that are being triggered unintentionally.
So you might want to check whether you occasionally touch the button by accident or whether it sometimes gets stuck. “If the button feels loose, reacts too easily, or doesn’t click cleanly anymore, cleaning the gap around it or pressing it a few times to loosen debris can sometimes help”, says AI. “If that doesn’t improve things, the internal switch may simply be worn out.”
I’d generally recommend using /e/OS instead of stock Android, mainly for privacy reasons. However, switching operating systems takes a bit of time and effort, and in this case it probably wouldn’t solve the headphone issue.
But my JBL works fine on my old iphone and I’ve also tried them on other android phones with no issue. I had this issue on my Fairphone 4 also, and just got my Fairphone 6 in January so it’s still “new”. But will try to look into the e/OS system. Don’t think the button is stuck cause it’s not lose. But will try to open the phone with a screwer and double check the button. Thanks for the suggestions
Hello
Does it happen also with any other BT devices? Headsets, speakers?
I haven’t tried that cause I usually use my iphone or MacBook to play from my speakers. I will try this when I’m back home.
