App problems on /e/OS

Hi !

I am trying to hang on to my Fairphone 3 from 2020 by installing the Murena /e/OS. It has worked but I’m running into some issues.

The most important right now is not being able to sign into WhatsApp. Each time I get past the verification step, it says I’m using an “unofficial version” of the app and won’t let me get any further. I’ve tried downloading from App Lounge and the apk directly from the website and both do the same. I’m also not able to download my either of my bank apps for some reason (one won’t let me download from App Lounge, the other doesn’t seem to be on there!).

I’m wondering whether relocking the bootloader would help with the WhatsApp problem, but it seems risky based on other forums I’ve seen? I’m very new to this OS so not really sure what I’m doing, any advice would be very much appreciated!

Thanks for the reply! Ok I am not actually sure what it means to relock the bootloader, but I have read that it can brick the phone. Do you know how/whether I can do this?

If you plan to relock the bootloader after the installlation

this is not mandatoty, and only available with Official version, why relocking ?

Most important thing to take care about is the “android Security Update" aka "Security Patch Level” date (SPL) included in the installed Operating System on your device at time of the unlock.

new version on witch you want to relock the bootloader, must included a NEWER (or the same) “android Security Update" aka "Security Patch Level” date (SPL),

otherwise you risk to change your device into Brick
