Anonymous Calls not heard or anounced

Hi everyone,
I realize that anonymous phone calls are not visible and do not show or ring on mij phone …. than often I receive a voicemail after a short time. I couldn’t figure out where this problem lies …. Not in my settings neither my provider. Anyone an idea?
Thanks! Marianne (Nl)

Can you please tell us which phone with which software you use and which provider?
With Android you can block anonymous calls in the settings of you phone app.

Hi. Thanks for your reply :slightly_smiling_face: The FP 4. Which software? You mean like Android? It is Android .
I know what you tell me but I never did such a thing. Also couldn’t find it in settings. And this problem has not always been there …

I mean what software exactly, operating system and dialer. All Fairphone standard?

If you open the phone app, check the settings for blocked numbers, there should be a switch to block all anonymous calls.

As far as I know yes all FP standard.
Okay! I found the setting block unknown numbers (not anonymous numbers) and switched that off. Hope this will do because it is very annoying from time to time. Thanks, I hope it is solved!

Well, I guess not blocking unknown calls should solve your problem with unknown calls being blocked  .

Yes, but it is the anonymous calls that I don’t hear or see. Not the unknown calls. I get calls quite often from unknown numbers. Which I block sometimes when I don’t want them.

Hello, I think I don’t really understand the concept of anonymous calls, could you please explain? No number visible at all?

But that blocks calls without a transmitted number too. Because they are obviously also ‘unknown’.

Those are phone calls where you don’t see a number. Just ‘anonymous’

NO! I explained you. I get calls from numbers that I don’t know, from businesses or marketing….. those have numbers. And the calls that I do not get are calls who don’t show their numbers.

Thank you for explaining.

It is a bit of a mystery why then blocking unknown numbers did not work. Let us see what happens next.

But please note, there is no reason to shout at people who are helping.

NO! You didn’t. You said you chose the option to block numbers you don’t know and that blocks calls without numbers too:

Schreeuw ik dan?? Nou sorry dat was dan niet mijn bedoeling

Hi,

It’s quite common in social media that writing in CAPITAL LETTERS is recognized as shouting, but from your last answer I guess that you didn’t know that.

Greets Robert

Where did I use capitals??

Okay. Let go … I got no réal answer to my question tgough… But never mind.
We will see. I turned the switch off
:waving_hand: bye

NO! I explained you.

Here you did so. But maybe is was just a typo.

But back to your question, if you choose to block calls with unknown phone numbers (meaning the phone number cannot be found in your contacts) you implicitly also block calls with supressed phone numbers.

Greets Robert

That’s what I thought too – but it doesn’t seem to be the case.
Apparently, “If an “Unknown caller” label appears on your phone during an incoming call, it usually means your phone service provider couldn’t identify the caller due to a network issue” – from this site; see also Fairphone and Google support pages: “[Blocking unknown numbers] will block calls from private or unidentified numbers. You will still receive calls from phone numbers that are not stored in your contacts.”

Also, I think there might have been some confusion above between turning on the blocking of unknown numbers and the blocking of individual numbers – but anyway, I hope your issue is solved now, @Mariannevl, and that anonymous, private numbers come through properly!

Many companies, such as municipalities, health insurers, or companies that do not wish to be called, use anonymous, and therefore unrecognizable, numbers. And that is normally how it is stated on the phone: “anonymous caller.” And so, these calls no longer come through to me. All the others do. Even the numbers unknown to me. Thát is my point. I hope it is solved now. Because I sometimes get a phone call from the municipality or the health insurance company…
Thank you for the reactions. Have a beautiful day.
