Android 16 for The Fairphone (Gen. 6) šŸ“² šŸŽ‰

Could be related to this issue or something else related to the network configuration

You can switch auto-brightness, from the drop-down menu, by pressing this control

That does not seem to work for me.

Does not work. It’s just an icon an not a button.
Pressing on that icon switches the slider to ~0%.

hi all, 2 observations on my Fp6 since about the update to A16:

1. some apps load very slow (>1min), specific often RTVUtrecht and Buienradar, but some other sometimes. Before (A15?) I didn’t notice this. Memory only about 25% in use, speedchecks always excellent.

  1. data connection (KPN) sometimes breaks with no obvious reason, sometimes restores after a while, sometimes I (have to) do a restart to get it working again. Sometimes connection seems ok but apps (like DigID) show ā€˜no internet connection’ on starting or connecting.

Any idea or tip?

Reg #1 kindly see here and follow-up in this topic. Shortly disabling wifi should help

that does help. but of course it’s annoying still. Thnx!

Same problem here on FP6.

The Android 16 upgrade on Fairphone 6 went well, but now I have the same issue as Vic009: Multiple times a day a popup appears and tells me that Android System Intelligence has stopped working.

Good afternoon, the update went well on my new fairphone. However I wanted to put e os on it and I just realised they were not supporting A16 yet. Does anyone know wether they will be supporting A16 in the futur for fairphone or not ? I really would like to ditch google

Hello and welcome to the community
Please have a look at this thread

I do not know myself much about e/OS though

There’s no apparent reason Murena wouldn’t be able to build Android 16 /e/OS for FP6. Fairphone have released their own Android 16, Murena and Fairphone are official partners.
It will come, even if there’s no ETA yet. Murena is just now carefully getting started with bringing Android 16 to their range of supported devices.

As I haven’t yet got Android 16 to my fp6, I’m wondering whether there is something I coul/shoul do. The current system version is FP6.QREL.15.178.0, the latest Android security update from 5 February 2026 and my operator is Elisa.

Is there any chance the issues raised in this thread will be fixed soon?

It’s been over a month since the rollout started and I still don’t have the update. I’ve checked in the settings more or less daily. Has the rollout been stopped due to some issue, or what’s going on?

It is probably your mobile provider. Some are blocking the updates, some do not.

Same here.

I’ve never had any problems with updates before on my provider.

Seconded. I’d like to install the update, but if the navigation buttons can’t be altered, then I’m probably gonna lose my mind hitting the wrong one 200 times a day

I don’t quite understand how the operator would be involved. The phone was bought Independently of any operator. I’ve tried removing the SIM card and rebooting the phone, which I guess should put it in an operator free state, but that didn’t change anything.

It would have been nice if Fairphone communicated what they were doing, instead of us having to guess and experiment.
