Android 16 for The Fairphone (Gen. 6) šŸ“² šŸŽ‰

That’s how A16 looks on a Moto G86.

Hi Fra, I’m using Fastweb/Vodafone, and unfortunately VoLTE is not working, as they are still whitelisting phones instead of allowing all like TIM or other carriers.

Thanks for sharing @PhotoPhil! I thought Fairphone followed a very stock-like look (where the battery is horizontal with the percentage number inside) and that making big visual changes was not possible/easy. But, like @Kalibri mentioned, this issue came up in beta testing, and it seems like it will be adjusted at some point.

ok, then let’s hope that the update will come soon

I have exactly the same problem, but in my case the orientation is irrelevant, both horizontal and vertical photos are ā€œdoubleā€ cropped.

Yes, confirmed. It worked in Android 15 and now in Android 16 It doesn’t.

Hope someone has a solution, of Fairphone fixes it.

Is missing manual updates packages a usual occurrence with Fairphone? i gotta be honest: it’s not a good look for them.

i picked this phone over a new Pixel 10 with Graphene, because of bootloader locking and support for alternative OSes,but having to wait for newer security updates to switch between them is very annoying.

ā€œhow something like this could come through quality control ā€œ

Being a Fairphone 6 owner since August 2025, I am asking myself this question at many topics. Including the latest update.

I was using a Jolla 1 phone as a daily driver for more than 6 years and I have experienced quite some bugs, but the general experience with Fairphone is on a different level and much worse.

Unfortunately the non-transparent communication of Fairphone is not supporting to build trust in their product.

Same problem here. I had opened another post https://forum.fairphone.com/t/android-16-cropped-picture-with-2x-zoom/

Hello, just flagging this reported issue with VPN connections after update to A16. I know it’s an Android problem, not coming from FP OS: Google Issue Tracker . Google doesn’t seem interested in fixing it.

Hi @Fairphone_CM, could you please upload the update to the website? I know you said, this is not synchronous, but it’s now more than a week where we can’t see the update.
And maybe can can reply @hornedfiend what we should normally expect as the delay for uploading the update.

Kindly translate into English for this topic.

Hello everyone, the update was offered and installed yesterday without any problems. For now, everything seems to be working; I haven’t noticed any major differences apart from a few cosmetic changes.

Yes, and French as well, but mostly in topics started in the respective language by the topic opener, and then respectfully adhered to … Topics tagged šŸ‡«šŸ‡· … Topics tagged šŸ‡©šŸ‡Ŗ … Topics tagged šŸ‡³šŸ‡±

This is not being strictly enforced, but kindly asked, although we know there are translation tools, of course.
It’s much easier to follow conversations this way for everybody.

OK no problem. I’ll write in english next time.

This is my first Fairphone, and it’s most likely my last one as well. Their software stack is a joke. I’ve never experienced so many bugs before. It’s crazy!

I knew I would do a downgrade in multiple regards, but it felt good, thinking that Fairphone was a fair company. I didn’t expect them to consistently push out alpha grade software though. And the saddest part is that they don’t seem to care at all. There’s nothing ā€œfairā€ about that.
