I don’t think whatever wording they used for this would amount to a “promise”.

I agree with you. The words were probably “Android 16 is expected later in 2025”, as mentioned above and as we can verify through the Wayback Machine (August 4th / December 19th).
Even though it is not a binding promise, I do not think it is very “fair” to change the FAQ by delaying the planned date by a year without adding any comments to the text and directly deleting the previous text.

Well, I should hope so! 
I do still have to wonder what kind of marketing genius came up with the name “The Fairphone (Gen. 6)” and expected anyone outside of the company to call it that. It’s hardly going to stop me from getting either “Gen. 7” or “Gen. 8” to replace my FP4 one day, but still, what silly nonsense…

I saw this aswell today! The only question is what ‘soon‘ is. Hopefully it will come in the Febuary/March update, which should come out ‘soon‘…

Is the FP6 A16 expected to have a Security Patch more recent than the current e/os (February)??
And isn’t soon already in the past ? Come on!
I think by “soon” they meant something along “the next update if nothing blows up”. The next update would be the March update - my guess would be around mid-March with a staged rollout that reaches everyone by the end of March - or at least I’d hope they went a bit more conservative after the experience of the A15 updates for FP4 and FP5.
I’m so happy about this one, can’t wait to use it on my Gen. 6.

I bet will be there first week of may with January security patch

Can we have a sneak peek of what this update will look like?
I don’t think we’ll get a sneak peek. However, I think it will probably closely resemble stock Android 16. Look it up to get an idea of what to expect.

Tweakers are reporting that A16 for the Gen. 6 will start rollout from tomorrow already! I remember they mentioned April, so cool that it’s earlier then we all expected. Sweet!
