I dont know why but since the android 16 update, having ly battery too low, even with battery saver turned off. The soc throttles down and the performance is abysmal. The whole UI is lagging.
How can I fix this?

Probably obvious, but just in case: Is Battery Saver activated on your FP6?
My fo6 updated without issue, and seems to work well with Android 16, I did however notice that the device becomes incredibly slow/ quite laggy when the battery level is below 20%
Is this a known a16 issue?
Do you happen to have automatic battery saver enable when the batter is low?
When battery saver is active, the screen will lower it’s refresh rate to 60Hz (to preserver battery). This may be perceived as laggy, but is expected. The device might also be a bit slower as it probably limits the CPU and GPU power to prolong the battery life, when battery saver is active.
Does it seem like that could be the case for you?
That was my first thought as well, but battery saver is not on (and automatic battery saver is not on either).
I first thought that it was some sort of refresh rate reduction, but the device really takes longer to respond to certain actions (like opening an app).
That’s the thing. Battery saver is turned off
In my case the phone becomes unusable, it takes 5-10 second to launch an app
I have exactly the same issue. Some apps open but then just freeze.
Its like the CPU is being throttled when battery is low, but I cannot figure out why it would do that
is this new with Android 16 and did not happen with Android 15? Because at least for FP4 and FP5 that was reported before
Yes the issue was introduced during the lastest Ota update for Android 16 on fp6. Before the update the phone was perfectly operational on low battery but now it is juste unusable
As many people try to prevent this low charge I guess many dont notice. Best is to contact Fairphone
I have exactly the same issue with a FP5 on android 15, so it’s not a new issue. I wouldn’t say it takes 5 seconds to load an app though, it’s just much slower but still usable…
For people encountering this issue, be careful when using 2FA apps under 10% battery. I tried to log in to my Microsoft account using their 2FA app, and it just would not work until it was at 10%+ battery again.
I encountered several apps that just freeze and refuse to operate when the battery is below 10%, but this one is definitely the worst.
I can 100% confirm this. I was also very surprised about this since the last update. The phone becomes unusable under 20% battery, incredibly laggy, with Battery Saver turned off.
Same here.
FP5 with latest LineageOS (Android 16), without gapps nor MicroG.
Happening to me too. I’m not sure it matters if battery saver is on or off, since I almost always have it on regardless. Very laggy performance on low battery percentage now where it wasn’t before.
Gotta say, these last two or so updates seemed to have broken more things than they fixed. I’ve got photos not saving or being weirdly cropped, touchscreen sometimes seeming not to respond for a few seconds, 3 button navigation can’t be flipped anymore and now this? What’s happening behind the scenes?
Kindly stick here to the topic. The other topics are discussed elsewhere.
Please do contactsupport I did so as well for the FP4 and FP5, but they haven’t changed course yet. When a lot of people complain they might one day.
