Android 15 update: changed volume control

Hi there, after installing the Android 15 update on my Fairphone 4, the volume control has changed, which is a bit annoying. I was used to listening to relaxing music with my Fairbuds XL at the lowest volume setting, but after the update, the lowest volume is much louder than before. Was this intentional or is it just a bug than can be fixed? To be honest, I haven’t noticed any improvement from the update, but it seems to come with some bugs that will need to be fixed with another update – a vicious cycle.

One upside is that the huge gap near the bottom of the volume scale is gone! Finally the volume goes up and down in fairly smooth-sounding steps. I’ve wanted that for ever so long…

My impression is that the volume increments have become larger, but I can hardly compare them to how they were before the update. At least the lowest volume level is now significantly louder. I also don’t understand why Fairphone doesn’t offer stepless volume control, as this is standard on almost all digital devices. This would eliminate the discussion about the optimal volume increments, which is obviously a matter of personal preference.
